Diane E. Sumpter created DESA in 1986, when she realized that her business and management know-how could help construction projects run more efficiently. Since then, we have earned a sterling reputation for creating business development opportunities and managing operations in a multitude of industries. While managing four different services lines at DESA, Sumpter continues to fulfill her mission as an advocate for other small, woman- and minority-owned businesses.
 
Additionally, DESA has grown from a staff of one to full team of experts. In the past, we've had over 200 employees with nearly a dozen offices around the nation. Today, our 35 specialists continue to oversee multiple job and project sites across the country from our Columbia location.  

While the company grows annually, we continue to reflect Sumpter's passion and dedication to her clients and business - the inspiration behind DESA from day one. Additionally, DESA supports educational philanthropy and various non-profit organizations working to make a difference in our state, country and world on a daily basis.
