Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (LRADAC) "Fighting Back" Public Awareness Campaign

LRADAC hired DESA's strategic marketing and communication outreach team to generate community and business support for a school-based substance abuse intervention program. The campaign required networking between business and community leaders, as well as creating a marketing campaign that would accomplish the agency’s public awareness goals.

"I can't tell you how many times I counted my blessings. DESA's expertise really helped us reach our target audience." --Jo Pauling-Jones, Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council

The Assignment:

Generate local businesses support for this school-based alcohol and drug abuse intervention program.

Challenges:

  • New program lacked general awareness and didn’t have any supporting marketing materials.
  • There was strong competition for business and community attention. The challenge was to target audiences in order to influence businesses and communities to get involved in the program.

How DESA Exceeded Expectations:

  • We recruited a business council and hosted regular meetings to directly involve leaders as advisors for these school-based programs.
  • We created a full package of supporting marketing materials, including a logo, brochures, flyers and newsletters.
  • LRADAC gave DESA’s strategic marketing team kudos after seeing their awareness campaign succeed in the communities where participation was needed most.
