Richland County School District One hired DESA to ensure that small, woman- and minority-owned companies participate and successfully compete for construction contracts. More than 50 firms were awarded construction contracts with Richland One as a result of DESA’s work.

DESA:

• Marketed the program through advertising, direct mail, publication development (newsletters, flyers), trade fairs and community events.
• Supported general contractors and subcontractors.
• Identified Small, Woman- and Minority-Owned firms as prime contractors and subcontractors for construction projects.
• Provided technical assistance in accounting, marketing, bonding and insurance.
• Monitored the progress and completion of awarded subcontracts.
• Assisted with resolving problems and issues on behalf of the participating businesses.
