2009 South Carolina Parental Engagement Survey

DESA, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of the South Carolina Parental Engagement Survey. Specifically, this survey was designed to research the relationship between African-American parents and their local public schools.

 

This initiative was implemented following the 2006 African-American Economic Summit. This event was held on the campus of Claflin University and was sponsored by Claflin University,  the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus and the South Carolina National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

 

Following the Summit, the Educational Subcommittee provided recommendations that would address parental involvement in the education of children among the African-American community. This ultimately led to the creation of the South Carolina Parental Survey and this analytical report.
